We’re preparing our next announcement on the guests coming to the inaugural Lakes International Comic Art Festival.
The latest group of guests again reflects the wide range of genres and styles to be found in this very versatile medium. There are more overseas guests and some of the up and coming talent that are helping to make the UK comics scene so vibrant at the moment.
We’re currently looking through the artwork we’ve been sent by these latest guests. There are zombies, heroes, magical adventures, some pretty freaky characters and some good old toilet humour. That’s all we’re prepared to say for now!
Needless to say, there’s plenty of stunning artwork in our folders to keep us in Tweets and Facebook posts for months.
You’ll be able to see more details about these latest additions to our guest list, including a few of the images, here on Wednesday.
These guests will join our patrons Bryan and Mary Talbot and Sean Phillips, as well as writers and artists like Ed Brubaker, Joe Sacco, Posy Simmonds, John Wagner and Glyn Dillon.
We’ll be revealing some more of our guests in April and then the rest of our guest list will be announced when tickets for the festival go on sale in early May.
The team are busy firming up plans for all the events at the festival including talks with individual writers and artists, special live drawing events, a kid’s zone, a number of exhibitions and our version of the marketplace – the Comics Clock-tower. Our friends at the Brewery Arts Centre are also in their element planning the film programme for the festival.
We’ll be revealing more about each of these different elements over the next few months.
